Parenting Style : The Mover πŸ“¦πŸšš

Hey all! Are you ready to learn more about the different parenting styles?!  Now again, we all move through different parent styles at different times of the day and during different activities.  However, it is important for us as parents to be aware of our styles we are more likely to resort to in certain situations and know when we may want to try another approach! Hanen teaches that there are 7 different parenting styles!

They are:

  1. The Director
  2. The Tester
  3. The Entertainer
  4. The Helper
  5. The Mover
  6. The Watcher
  7. The Tuned-In

In this blog, we are looking more closely at The Mover Role.  Now, I will be the first to acknowledge that life is busy, and life with kids feels crazy pretty much all the time.  There are so many things to get done and so many places to go all the time.  The mover parent keeps everything moving quickly to keep the schedule.  While this again, at times is necessary, when we are in this role, we often miss opportunities that come up throughout the day to really connect with our kids.  The ways our children attempt to get our attention can be so slight and easy to miss if we are not slowing down and getting on their level to connect.  Following their lead throughout the day will show us what they are truly interested in and allow us to discover what and when they are attempting to communicate.  In the busy days we have scheduled, it is important to slow down and give them that attention when we can! We will notice our children doing more than we have ever known!

Again, we all flow through all the different styles during different times of the day, but it’s good to be aware of WHY we are doing what we are doing! Stay tuned for the next few blogs to find out more about the next style and what the outcomes can be!  We can all learn a little something about ourselves and how we can better help our kids!

Let us know if you have any questions about these styles or how we can help learn more about Hanen!
