Infant Feeding

Bringing home an infant is a huge undertaking! There are so many things to learn, including hurdles you never imagined you might be faced with in the first few weeks of life. Many new parents find themselves at a loss when their infant begins to have trouble gaining weight, taking a bottle or even nursing. The internet is full of resources, but where to start when you don’t even know what to Google? Our staff has many experienced therapists who specialize in infant feeding, we are here to help!

Infant behaviors that are appropriate for an evaluation include difficulties with:

  • Weight gain
  • Latch/transfer
  • Cough
  • Wet sounding cry
  • Wet sounding breathing
  • Frequent spit up/vomiting
  • Difficulties transitioning between breast and bottle
  • “Noisy” eating
  • “Messy” eating
  • Difficulties transitioning to spoon feeding
  • Any infant whose caregivers are stressed and/or struggling to feed them

If any of these resonate with you or apply to your child, please reach out! We welcome any and all questions and love empowering our families and parents with knowledge!
