My name is Kasey Wade, M.A.,CCC-SLP, and I’m an ASHA certified pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist. I work in the Twin Cities and surrounding metro areas of Minnesota. I graduated from Bethel University with an education degree. I then attended the University of Minnesota for my second undergrad and ultimately pursued and received my Masters in Speech-Language Hearing Sciences. My clinical experience has focused on primarily pediatric speech and language therapy, although I made it a point to sample the majority of settings in the field. I’ve had experiences in both inpatient and outpatient, adult and pediatrics, intensive aphasia groups, in-home care, and skilled nursing facilities just to name a few.
It was shortly after working with pediatrics in a clinical setting that I realized that the clinic was not the best place for everyone to receive therapy. Rather some people, and perhaps most people, would benefit from receiving therapy in a place that they were more comfortable and familiar with, where they could incorporate their own toys, their own family members, and their own real life situations into a therapy session. I was convinced that by doing this it would create a more meaningful and impactful therapy session that would lead to quicker and more significant progress. I began to talk to my husband and mentors in the field about what it would take to make this dream a reality. Fast forward 10 months and I have a full case load of 20 kiddos and families that I see every week in their home and am hiring employees to attempt to keep up with the demand! Family Chatterbox has been an amazing experience and I have absolutely loved working with families and kiddos in the environment in which they are best suited for success, their home!
